In a nutshell

SAN, VSA, NAS...

SAN: Storage Area Network, a system where a storage medium that is accessed over a network appears to be locally present.

NAS: Network-Attached storage, is a storage medium that is connected to the network and uses the TCP / IP protocol for data transfer.

Both SAN and NAS focus on providing extra capacity to networks, but they have a different place in the network. The big difference between the two storage solutions is that a NAS system is directly connected to a network, while a SAN is a storage network that connects servers to disks via cable connections.

VSA: Virtual Storage Appliance, is a storage controller that runs on a virtual machine to create shared storage.

Cloud storage: storage in the cloud, for example via Microsoft Azure.
